Article 17 of the Basic Law states that everyone has the right to address requests or complaints in writing, individually or collectively, to the competent authorities and to the people's representatives (right of petition). This provision is directly applicable law in accordance with Article 4 Paragraph 1 of the Constitution of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia. The complaints management of the police is derived from the right of petition.
The Bonn Police Department offers every citizen the opportunity to submit complaints, petitions, praise and thanks as part of our Citizens' Dialogue department.
Complaints are messages that point out perceived deficits in behavior or procedures (including appearance, communication, measures) in the context of police action. Submissions are letters containing questions, requests, information, suggestions and proposals.
