"A good appointment with a good turnaround", as the two baristas from the historic coffee van told us. They have now had over 60 appointments with the police across the country.
A coffee with the police - that is the motto of the "Coffee with a cop" campaign, which Interior Minister Herbert Reul brought to NRW from the USA three years ago. Yesterday, March 13, the campaign was a guest in Bonn. The historic coffee cart was set up on Münsterplatz, with patrol cars and a police mobile rounding off the information stand.
The topics covered the entire police spectrum: feeling safe, problems in road traffic, burglary prevention advice, senior citizen prevention, routes to school. Time and again, people also sought to talk to the recruitment advisors. Citizens came by several times to "simply say thank you". This praise was of course gladly accepted by the colleagues at the information stand.
In the afternoon, Minister of the Interior Reul also came by in person to talk to citizens and colleagues and to listen to "Bonn's problems".
Because of the success, the Bonn police are continuing the campaigns at information stands: There will be a sequel in August, then - probably - with ice cream instead of coffee.
