Following the events in Solingen, the city and police are currently in close contact with regard to taking possible further measures to ensure the greatest possible safety for visitors, market vendors and the emergency services at Pützchens Markt.
In addition, the Bonn police are in constant communication with the security authorities. Based on the current state of knowledge and the security concept, the Bonn police have so far relied on
- an increased, visible police presence. In addition to the joint foot patrols of the police and the city security service, riot police officers, service dog handlers and plainclothes investigators will also be on duty on the market site and available for people

- the proven issuing of entry bans for persons known to the police who have committed crimes at Pützchens Markt in the past. So far, 21 people have been banned from entering the area. This includes one person who has been banned from carrying a weapon by the Bonn police
- Police video surveillance to prevent crime. As in the previous year, the camera towers will be set up on the central event square and at the junction of Friedensstraße and Siegburger Straße.
- Weapons have no place on Puetzchen's market!
Signs will be clearly displayed at the main entrances to the market site indicating that weapons are prohibited on the market site.
According to the Weapons Act, it is prohibited to carry weapons and dangerous objects at public events and public festivals [...].
The Bonn police will monitor compliance with this ban and take consistent measures. In addition to seizure or confiscation, the initiation of preliminary proceedings, this also includes bans from the premises, bans on entering the premises, treatment for identification purposes and detention or provisional arrests.
For the duration of the fair, the Bonn police, the fire department and the municipal market and public order office will once again set up a joint coordination center in the market school. From there, the organizers will monitor the streams of visitors on the 80,000 square meter site with around 400 stores live with several cameras.
