In accordance with the Act on the Organization and Responsibility of the Police in the State of North Rhine-Westphalia - Police Organization Act (POG NRW), there are police councils at the district police authorities.
The police advisory board consists of 11 members.
The police advisory board is the link between the population, local government and the police. Its purpose is to promote a trusting relationship between them, support the work of the police and bring suggestions and requests from the public to the police.
He consults with the head of the police authority on police matters that are of importance to the population or the local government. This also includes matters and complaints addressed to the police authority whose significance goes beyond the individual case or in whose handling there is a public interest. The head of the police authority shall inform the Police Advisory Board as early as possible of the existence of such matters. In addition, the head of the police authority shall report on the items on the agenda and present the state of public safety in the police district.
Furthermore, the police council must be consulted before the creation of social facilities, the planning of construction measures for the police, the establishment or dissolution of police stations and before changes are made to their districts.
The committee's meetings are not open to the public. For this reason, agendas and minutes are not published on this page.
Chairman of the Police Advisory Board in the current electoral term (2020 - 2025) is Michael Nabbefeld.
